Here are activities that your child may be participating in this week.

Monday – Letter: “Y”

How you can participate: Have your child bring something to school that starts with the letter “Y”.

Book – Tiny Black Fly
Memory Game – Magic Blanket
Art – Fingerprint Flies
Science – Yummy or Yucky taste test
Music – If you’re happy and you know it

Tuesday – Ants Go Marching

How you can participate: Have your child make their own snack: Ants on a Log (spread peanut butter or cream cheese on a celery stick, add raisins). Yummy!

Book – Thinking about Ants
Phonics – “Y says y,y,y,y, as in fly…I’m a pest, when I try!”
Art – Ants
Science – The Lifecycle of an ant
Music – Pull my ears

Wednesday – Dad’s and Grandad’s Father’s Day BBQ

How you can participate: Dads (and other important males) please come and celebrate with us at our Father’s Day BBQ, 3-5:30pm.

Book – Me and My Dad
Action – Body “Y”
Art – Dad/Grandpa Certificate
Science – Bug fossils
Music – Fumble Bumble

Thursday – Antennae

How you can participate: Go on a bug hunt with your child. Help your child create a house for them, including food, water and air holes.

Phonics – “Y says y,y,y,y, as in fly…I’m a pest, when I try!”
Art – Antennae Head Bands
Science – Bug Hunt & Examine with Magnifier
Music – Shoo fly

Friday – Opposites: First/Middle/Last

How you can participate: Practice first/middle/last with your child by arranging items around the house in a line. Ex: First is the spoon, in the middle is the fork and last is the cup.

Action – Body “Y”
Art – Fly Swatter painting
Literacy – Y is for yellow tactile
Music – Going on a picnic
